homebattery.ie analyses your half-hourly ESB smart-meter readings against a simulated solar generation curve to produce an indicative recommendation for a home battery and a hybrid inverter. It is an aid for thinking about a planned PV install — not a quotation, an engineering specification, or financial advice.

The site has no access to live or historical PV output. Generation is modelled from the array size and orientation you enter, using typical Irish kWh-per-kWp figures, a fixed monthly distribution, and a half-sine daily curve. It does not account for cloud cover, shading, panel degradation, soiling, inverter clipping, or your specific roof geometry.

Real-world output for the same array can be materially higher or lower than the simulation.

The recommended battery capacity is the "knee" of a self-consumption curve simulated against your data. The product catalogue is a static list of items the author was aware of at the time of writing — it does not reflect live pricing, availability, firmware compatibility, or installer-specific constraints, and it is not exhaustive.

The inverter recommendation is sized to standard ratings under Irish single- and three-phase microgeneration rules. It does not factor in MPPT count, string sizing, breaker capacity, or the actual layout of your consumer unit.

Before purchasing any equipment, get the recommendation reviewed by a SEAI-registered installer who can survey your site, check your supply, and provide a written quotation. Rely on their advice over anything this tool outputs.

Product names and logos remain the property of their respective owners and are referenced for identification only.

Default panel, battery, installation, import-rate, export-rate and night-rate values are placeholders intended to make the calculator usable out of the box. They are not quotes and are not guaranteed to be accurate or current. Replace them with your own installer quotes and your supplier's current unit rates before drawing any conclusion about payback.

The 25-year savings figure is a simple multiplication and ignores tariff inflation, battery degradation, replacement cycles, and any future change to the SEAI Microgeneration Support Scheme.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any dispute arising in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
